In my last article, The Little Engine That Could, I brought up the concept of “affirmations”.  In this article I’m going to show you how to design your own affirmations that will best help you to achieve your goals.

…and the little engine puffed and he puffed as he went up the hill… I think I can… I think I can… The little engine got closer to the top.  I KNOW I can… I KNOW I can!  And then the little engine raced over the top of the hill and down the other side.  The little engine was so happy and so proud.  He was singing… I KNEW I COULD!  I KNEW I COULD!

Do you know what that little engine was doing?  He was using affirmations.  I bet some of you just rolled your eyes.  ”Oh god, he’s gonna talk about that affirmation crap.  Doesn’t he know that affirmations never work?”  And unto the nonbeliever I doth speaketh:  What you are saying is an affirmation that is working. :-)

It has been said that nobody plans to fail, they simply fail to plan.  And what’s a plan?  It is a blueprint that outlines the steps involved in making something, or getting somewhere.  What comes at the end of the plan is called a “goal”.  The desired result.  Put enough of these plans and goals together and you end up with a life.  But think about this: if your plans are crappy or non-existent, the resulting life will be crappy and non-existent (metaphorically speaking).  Also, if the plans and goals are not your own, the resulting life won’t be your own either.

My brain is hungry?  What… you want me to eat more fish or something?  Yeah, you should eat more fish, but no, that’s not what I’m talking about.  I’m saying that your brain is hungry for knowledge.  Hungry for stimulation.  Hungry for use.  In a previous article I spoke about keeping your body healthy with exercise.  This article is going to be along the same sort of lines.  Except this time, we’re going to get that grey stuff between your ears healthy.

Are you a social butterfly or a social outcast? Well, personally, I think you can run into trouble at both ends of the scale.  Somewhere in the middle is probably a good place to be.

So who is this financial wizard I mentioned?  You!  Or at least you should be.  OK, maybe “wizard” is a bit of an exaggeration, but in this day and age you need to be pretty damn close to being a wizard to get along in this world financially.

Are you fit enough to not exercise?

In a word… NO! And I don’t care who you are or what you’ve done in your life so far.  Every person on the planet needs to exercise.  Exercise is such an integral and important part of our lives that it should never ever be neglected or forgotten.  The good news is that it doesn’t need to be “hard work”.  As a matter of fact, it can very often be a source of a lot of fun.

Making Decisions

Weighing Up The Pros & Cons

Warning: This article will be very “hands on” for you, gentle reader.

Every decision that you make has its roots in your own personal system of morals and ethics.  So it stands to reason that our morals and ethics are a pretty major and important part of our lives.  But how many of us pay much (if any) attention to them?  If you want to be successful (whatever that means to you), I think you’d agree that being able to make good decisions would be pretty handy.  Having a well defined system of morals and ethics is what you need for that.  This article is not going to tell you what your morals and ethics should be, nobody but you can do that.  This article is about giving you the tools to help you define them.
